The Queen's Global Innovation Conference - Feb 3rd - Feb 5th

Originally known as "So You Think You Can Engineer", this conference gives the opportunity for delegates to be challenged and to apply critical thinking skills to real world issues. The conference aims to equip students with the necessary skills needed to solve complex problems such as climate change, development, water scarcity and food shortage.

Who are our speakers?
Steven Moore from the Commerce Faculty at Queen's who will be talking about climate change and how it will affect society
Steven Synyshyn, Director at the Canadian Association of International Development Consultants
Colin Turnpenny, Coordinator of the Orphan AIDS Care Program in Mzuzu, Malawi
Mike Gerbis, CEO of the Delphi Group, a consulting company that specializes in Climate Change and Sustainability

And our workshops?
Driving systemic change: what are the systems that revolve about some global issues and how can we transform that system from within?
Global Innovation: The global engineering team will run this workshop looking at the failures of three projects: El Tofo fog collectors, Shea Butter in West Africa and the Gyandoot project
Ethical Imagery brought to you by QPID: QPID is running this workshop and asking us how we are biased by what we see in the media related to international development and at home global issues

And what about this infamous design competition?
A design competition like no other. Fernando our director has been consulting with people on the ground in Africa to bring a certain element to this year's simulation featuring Water Scarcity. To entice excitement and to lessen competitive advantage the problem and context will be announced on Saturday during the conference so stay tuned for more!
